Hybrid Air Conditioning System
Based on a coupled open double-effect absorption cycle using ionic liquids for latent cooling and an evaporative or vapor compression component for sensible cooling, this system decouples the treatment of sensible and latent heat loads in the cooling process. This increases the system efficiency and provides the ability for independent humidity and temperature control.
Size – Scalable from residential to commercial applications.
Status – In development.
dehumidification
Based on a Semi-Open Double Effect Ionic Liquid Absorption cycle, the air-cooled system dehumidifies room/outside air using either existing infrastructure heat sources (natural gas), off-grid heat sources (solar), or waste heat from other cycle/systems .
Size - Scalable from residential to commercial applications.
Status – In development.
Dehumidification/ Water Heating
Based on an Semi-Open Loop Absorption cycle, using an Ionic Liquid as the liquid desiccant, the system dehumidifies room air and utilizes the waste heat to provide heating for hot water. The liquid desiccant is regenerated within the system eliminating the periodic maintenance requirement of desiccant replacement found in solid desiccant systems.
Size - Scalable from residential to commercial applications.
Status – Prototype is in the test phase.
